Their fresh samosas are amazing! Flavourful, generous stuffing, and the mint chutney provided a cooling effect to the spice. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about their products. The pizza place is apparently one of the best in the city. We will be returning to try the pizzas for sure!

Great little South Asian grocery store in Barrhaven. They had lots of spices at reasonable prices. They also have a butcher with a good selection of meats. They have mostly shelf stable items with a few refrigerated and frozen items (including different flavours of Indian Ice cream, by the tub as well as individual bars). There's a good size display of Indian sweets at the front of the store. They also sell grilled meats and pizza at the front of the store. Lots of free parking in the plaza parking lot.

SO glad to have found out about the Pakistani fusion pizza you can get at this new grocery, barbecue, and pizza place! I haven't been to the store/restaurant just yet, but I need to write a review about their pizza ASAP because it was SO GOOD! I heard such great things about the Tandoori Chaska pizza, so that's what we ordered, as well as the Meat Overload pizza because my husband is a meat pizza kinda guy and he didn't even need to know what was on it in order to want it just by the name alone lol. We got medium sized pizzas, $19.49 for the Tandoori Chaska and $22.99 for the Meat Overload before taxes. It would've been $3 extra each for the large. The Tandoori Chaska had spicy tandoori sauce, mozzarella cheese, tandoori chicken bites, green pepper, onion, and fresh coriander. I definitely wanted to go with the medium size on this one because I wasn't sure if it would be really spicy, and if it was, it would mean that I'd have to eat the whole pizza because my husband is a mild man haha. It had spice for sure, but it wasn't so spicy that my husband couldn't eat it. It had great tandoori flavour and I loved that the slices of green peppers and onions were crisper and still had some bite to them instead of being overcooked. I sort of expected fresh cilantro from the description, even though there wasn't any in the photos, but it was definitely (ground) coriander and maybe just freshly ground or sprinkled on top after baking. The Meat Overload had "homestyle sauce", mozzarella cheese, halal pepperoni, malayee boti, tandoori chicken, and beef kebob. I wasn't sure what the "homestyle sauce" was, but I think it was just a homemade tomato sauce with a bit more texture instead of super smooth. I didn't know what malayee boti was and never had it before, so I had to look it up. From what I understand, it's basically chicken marinated in yogurt/cream, ginger, garlic, and spices. The pizza was loaded with meat and I'd say worth the $3 dollars. I liked the Tandoori Chaska more, mostly because of the veggies and it was less heavy, but my husband said the Meat Overload was one of the best pizzas he's ever had in Ottawa. I loved how tender the malayee boti was in the Meat Overload, so I'll have to try the Creamy Melt Pizza next time, which has chicken malayee boti and malayee sauce, as well as green peppers, onion, and fresh coriander like the Tandoori Chaska, plus red peppers, too. I wanted to try it this time but I was getting greedy and had to chill lol. They're thin crust pizzas, but not super thin, so I think it's safe to say you could definitely have more than a couple of slices of the medium pizza without being super stuffed. There are nine different pizzas on the menu, including one cheese (four cheese plus mozzarella) and one veggie. Most of the pizzas have green peppers and onions, so not too many different kinds of toppings like you'd expect at other pizza places, but their meats and sauces are unique with a Pakistani twist, so I personally don't think they need anything more than they already have. We ordered through UberEats and didn't see any options to add or remove toppings, so I'm not sure if they customize at all. Best to call and ask or visit in person if you have allergies. We didn't see an option to select what kind of drink we wanted ("drinks can" is in the Sides section of on UberEats instead of the Drinks section), so we just added it in the notes. We asked for a coke and they gave us a regular Coca Cola. We didn't see an option for a garlic sauce, either, but I heard it was really good and just asked for them to add it to the order in the notes. They gave us three, and so glad they did. It was a house sauce, much thinner and less garlicky than other pizza places, and I would say maybe a cumin and coriander flavour with a yogurt base? We enjoyed it, especially with the spice of the Tandoori Chaska pizza. Important to note that it's listed as just "Shinwari BBQ & Pizza" on UberEats instead of Al Raheem Grocery and Shinwari BBQ & Pizza and Restaurant, since "Al Raheem" is the actual grocery part of the store and is what appears on the storefront. If you went in person, you'd look for the sign that says "Al Raheem". I'll probably pick up some groceries whenever I visit in person, and I need to try the samosas with chutney and the kebobs from their BBQ menu next time, too. What a great place to try something different and halal! "5 out of 5 with no hesitation" - the husband (and me!)
